Abstracts & Texture

My interest in abstractions began in October of 2022, when I joined a Facebook group called Mixed Media Mania. I had been creating a lot of textural works that still had a representational element of “reality.” So I felt that I could easily go to the next level of pure abstraction using natural elements and textures. Viewers could SEE things but for the most part they were hidden under the field of colors and elements.

After a hiatus earlier in 2023, I began creating these flower/plant pieces. In some cases I mixed in figures, but most of the time just relied on natural shapes provided by my own photography. In many cases I am presenting two works using the same exact photo elements, but with different coloration, filtration and manipulation.
